Search path

Libhelp uses a relative filename specifiaction for help files. The location of helpfiles and images can be set either at compiletime or at runtime.

Runtime search path

The environment variable LIBHELPPATH contains the colon separated list of directories libhelp searches for help files and images. You can set environment variable LIBHELPPATH on your shell before starting the application. For sh compatible shells you will type

export LIBHELPPATH=".:../images:/tmp"

for csh compatible shells you will type

setenv LIBHELPPATH ".:../images:/tmp"

to add directories "." (current directory), "../images" and "/tmp" to the runtime search path.

Default search path

The following default search path is compiled into libhelp:

"/usr/local/help:../help:help:../images:images:."
